Located in the most western county of the island, it is among the Cuban areas declared by Cuba National Patrimony and National monument, and World Heritage by UNESCO in the Cultural Landscape category.
Viñales has become one of the most visited tourist destinations in the island due to its natural beauty. Singular are the mogotes (pin-cushion hills or haystacks), geo-morphological formations only present here, in China and in Malaca Peninsula. In Viñales mogotes still exists the Cork Palm, one of the few alive fossils in the world.
