Well-known as the Pearl of the South or Beautiful City of the Sea. A visit to Cienfuegos demands to include in the walk a journey for it´s Paseo del Prado- the longest in Cuba - and to know properties like the Founder's House, the Cathedral Mrs. of the Pure Concepción and Tomás Terry Theater, as well as José Martí central park, where the only Arch of Triumph in the country rises. Other important and not to miss place is Palacio de Valle and more distant but always interesting are the fortress Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Jagua, the Cemetery Tomás Acea and the Botanical Garden.
The legacy of the French families to who corresponds the merit of having lifted this city, becomes evident in the perfect rectilinear layout of its streets that cross from north to south and from east to west, forming a carefully squared retícula, according to the concepts of the neoclassical style. That also explains, the elegance and refinement of its constructions - taking care of geometric lines -, the elegant air, the architectural harmony of the beautiful city of Cienfuegos.
